Keystone BioFuels, Inc (KBI) is an innovative company dedicated to transforming how we use energy and how it affects the environment. Our goal is to provide energy independence while reducing our impact on the planet.
We manufacture Biodiesel, a renewable, alternative fuel source and a diesel fuel substitute. In addition to Biodiesel, we are working on ways to offer new energy solutions for our customers, by developing second generation feedstocks and beneficial uses for co-product streams.
Our product line includes Biodiesel Fuel, Bioheat, Unicarb, and Electrical Generation.

The cornerstone of our business is Biodiesel fuel, which we’ve been manufacturing since 2006, making KBI the longest-running fuel production facility in Pennsylvania.
First generation feedstocks used in the production of Biodiesel fuel include vegetable oils, animal fats, and recycled restaurant grease.
There are many benefits to using biodiesel fuel. It’s a great substitute to conventional petrodiesel because it’s cleaner-burning, biodegradable, non-toxic, and essentially free of sulfur and aromatics. This means a significant reduction of greenhouse gases and toxic air pollutants.
Studies have shown that using biodiesel fuel in place of conventional diesel results in similar fuel consumption, horsepower, torque and hauling rates. Fleets using diesel can have a seamless transition to this cleaner-burning fuel program.

Biodiesel is a perfect additive or replacement fuel in standard oil-fired furnaces or boilers. Bioheat is the term for biodiesel used to heat homes or buildings.
The same benefits apply to bioheat: it’s biodegradable, nontoxic, and renewable. And, it’s far less polluting than the conventional fossil fuels used for heat.
Learn more about how bioheat can be used to heat your home or building: visit our Bioheat section.
KBI continues to find new ways to make biodiesel production even cleaner and more valuable.
We’re currently working on two proprietary technologies: Unicarb and Electrical generation.
With Unicarb, the wastes and co-products generated from the production of biodiesel are used to treat nitrates in sewer treatment plants. Learn more about Unicarb.
We’ve also powered generators with biodiesel. This means we make our own electricity, taking our entire biodiesel production off the grid while one day supplying the grid with our excess “green” energy. Learn more about our green power.
